Delhi Myanmar International Air Ambulance Transfer for Advanced Oncology Care
Published on: March 22, 2026

compromised airways and high nursing needs. Life Savers Ambulance Services coordinated an
air ambulance transfer from Delhi to Myanmar for a patient requiring continuous airway
management and oxygen support.
Case Overview
A patient diagnosed with oral cavity (mouth) cancer required repatriation from Delhi to Myanmar
for continuation of definitive oncology care. The transfer was managed by Dr. Pradeep Gupta
and the specialized medical team from Life Savers, using a dedicated air ambulance in India
configured for long-distance critical care transport.
Patient Condition
The patient had a surgically secured airway with a tracheostomy and was dependent on
supplemental oxygen throughout the journey. Due to excessive oral and tracheal secretions, the
patient required near-continuous suctioning and close respiratory monitoring, making
conventional travel unsafe.
Transport Decision
Considering the airway vulnerability, oxygen dependency, and secretion burden, an emergency
air ambulance was selected as the safest mode of transport. Commercial air travel was not
suitable due to limited medical access and inability to manage advanced airway care during
flight.
The medical air ambulance was equipped with:
- Advanced oxygen delivery systems
- Suction apparatus for continuous airway clearance
- Tracheostomy care and airway emergency kits
- Multi-parameter patient monitoring
- Emergency medications and resuscitation equipment
The onboard team consisted of experienced medical professionals trained in managing complex
airway cases during flight.
Execution of the Transfer
Throughout the international air journey from Delhi to Myanmar, the patient remained under
constant medical supervision. Airway patency, oxygenation, and overall clinical stability were
carefully maintained, with proactive management of secretions to prevent respiratory
compromise.
Arrival and Handover
Upon landing in Myanmar, the patient was stable and was safely transferred to the receiving
hospital’s ambulance. A structured medical handover was completed to ensure continuity of
care and clear communication regarding airway management and ongoing needs.
Clinical Perspective
This case underscores the importance of specialized air medical transport for oncology patients
with complex airway requirements. Through careful planning, skilled medical oversight, and
appropriate use of air ambulance services, Life Savers ensured a safe and dignified
international transfer focused solely on clinical stability and patient safety.
