Clinical Details
The patient was admitted to a hospital in Dehradun and was on ventilator support due to
severe respiratory failure. Despite ventilation, the patient was unable to maintain adequate
oxygen levels. As a result, ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) was advised as
an emergency life-saving measure.
Medical Intervention and Transport Preparation
A specialised Lifesavers medical team, consisting of an ICU specialist, vascular surgeon,
and perfusionist, travelled from Delhi to Dehradun. After detailed assessment, the patient
was found suitable for ECMO support. ECMO cannulation and initiation were successfully
completed within the next two hours, stabilising the patient for transfer.
Transport Summary
Once stabilised on ECMO, the patient was carefully shifted from Dehradun to Sir Gangaram
Hospital, Delhi, using a fully equipped critical care ambulance. Continuous monitoring and
expert supervision were maintained throughout the journey to ensure stability during inter-city
road transport.
Outcome
The patient was transferred safely and handed over to the ECMO and critical care team at Sir
Gangaram Hospital, allowing advanced treatment to continue without interruption.
