support, and continuous clinical supervision. Life Savers Ambulance Services conducted this
cross-border medical air ambulance transfer from India to Myanmar with structured critical care
planning.
Case Overview
A critically ill patient was referred for international transfer from Max Super Speciality Hospital,
Saket, Delhi to a tertiary care facility in Yangon, Myanmar. Given the patient’s dependence on
advanced life support and the need for rapid yet stable transport, an air-based medical
evacuation was selected.
Patient Condition
At the time of transfer, the patient was on invasive mechanical ventilation with very high oxygen
requirements and required multiple inotropic supports to maintain hemodynamic stability.
Continuous monitoring and uninterrupted respiratory support were essential throughout the
journey.
Transport Decision
Considering the clinical instability, long distance, and urgency of transfer, a medical air
ambulance charter was chosen. Air ambulance transport allowed controlled oxygen delivery,
continuous ventilator support, and close physiological monitoring without prolonged ground
transit risks.
Medical Setup
Life Savers Ambulance Services arranged a fully equipped medical air ambulance configured
for critical care, including:
- Advanced ventilator with high FiO₂ capability
- Continuous cardiac and vital parameter monitoring
- Infusion pumps for inotrope administration
- Emergency airway and resuscitation equipment
The patient was accompanied by an experienced critical care medical team trained in air
medical transport.
Execution of Transfer
The transfer was conducted using a structured bed-to-bed protocol, ensuring no interruption in
ventilation or circulatory support. Throughout the flight, the medical team closely monitored
respiratory mechanics, oxygenation levels, and hemodynamic parameters, maintaining clinical
stability during air transit.
Arrival and Handover
Upon arrival in Yangon, the patient was safely transferred from the air ambulance to the
receiving hospital. A detailed clinical handover was provided to the local medical team to ensure
continuity of critical care management.
Clinical Perspective
This case demonstrates the importance of specialized air ambulance services in managing
complex international transfers for critically ill patients. With coordinated planning, appropriate
medical infrastructure, and continuous supervision, Life Savers enabled a safe and controlled
transition, allowing definitive care to proceed without compromise.
