4 Days Newborn Baby Shifted from Agra
Transfer
Transporting critically ill newborns over long distances requires precision and uninterrupted
intensive care. Life Savers Ambulance Services recently carried out a high-risk neonatal
transfer involving a 4-day-old newborn baby who was shifted from Agra to AIIMS Delhi using
a Neonatal ICU Ambulance equipped for advanced life support.
The newborn baby weighing approximately 1500 grams was diagnosed with a cardiac
condition that required urgent surgical intervention at a higher medical center. Due to the
fragile condition of the baby and the need for specialized pediatric cardiac care the treating
doctors advised immediate transfer to AIIMS Delhi.
Recognizing the urgency Life Savers Neonatal ICU Ambulance was mobilized to ensure
continuity of intensive care during transit.
Patient Condition
- Age 4 days
- Weight approximately 1500 grams
- Diagnosed with congenital heart problem
- Dependent on mechanical ventilation
- Required continuous monitoring during transport
The baby’s low birth weight and cardiac condition made this transfer extremely sensitive.
Medical Setup During Transport
The Life Savers Neonatal ICU Ambulance was fully equipped to manage newborn critical care
and included:
- Neonatal ventilator with controlled oxygen delivery
- Incubator for thermal regulation and infection protection
- Multiparameter monitor for heart rate oxygen saturation and blood pressure
- Oxygen backup and neonatal airway management equipment
- Emergency medications and resuscitation readiness
Maintaining the baby’s body temperature was a key priority. The incubator ensured a stable
thermal environment throughout the journey which is crucial for newborn survival.
During the transfer:
- Ventilator support was maintained without interruption
- Temperature was continuously regulated using the incubator
- Vital parameters were closely monitored
- The baby remained under constant medical supervision
Careful planning and continuous monitoring ensured a smooth transfer without clinical
deterioration.
Arrival and Handover
On arrival at AIIMS Delhi the newborn was safely handed over to the neonatal cardiac care
team. A detailed clinical handover was provided including ventilator settings monitoring details
and observations during transport.
Clinical Perspective
Neonatal transport requires more than just movement between hospitals. It demands
preservation of temperature respiratory stability and cardiac support throughout the journey.
Incubator-based transport plays a vital role in preventing hypothermia and complications in
newborns.
Through this successful transfer Life Savers Ambulance Services once again proved its
commitment as true Life Savers, delivering ICU-level neonatal care beyond hospital walls and
ensuring critically ill newborns reach advanced medical facilities safely.
