immobilization and continuous medical monitoring. A young female patient with multiple long
bone fractures was safely shifted from Roorkee to Delhi in a Lifesavers ICU ambulance
equipped with an ICU bed to ensure comfort and safety during transport.
Initial Assessment and Preparation
Before initiating the transfer the medical team assessed the patient’s injuries and overall
stability. Polytrauma patients are at high risk of complications during movement so special
attention was given to pain control fracture immobilization and vital monitoring. All necessary
emergency medicines and monitoring equipment were arranged prior to departure.
Use of ICU Bed for Safe Transport
The patient was transferred on an ICU bed inside the ambulance which provided adequate
space and proper support. The ICU bed allowed better positioning of fractured limbs and
reduced unnecessary movement during transit. This setup significantly improved patient comfort
and helped in maintaining stability throughout the journey.
Continuous Medical Monitoring
During the transfer the patient remained under constant supervision by trained medical staff.
Vital signs were monitored regularly and the patient’s condition was closely observed to detect
any signs of deterioration. Oxygen support and pain management were maintained as required
during the journey.
Safe Transfer to Higher Medical Care
The patient reached the destination hospital in Delhi without any complications during transport.
The smooth transfer ensured timely continuation of definitive treatment and further orthopedic
management at the higher medical center.
Role of ICU Ambulance in Trauma Transfers
ICU ambulances play a critical role in transporting severely injured patients over long distances.
With advanced equipment proper patient positioning and continuous medical care such
transfers can be carried out safely even in complex trauma cases.
This case demonstrates the importance of structured planning and specialized ambulance
support in the safe transportation of polytrauma patients.
